Watch NASA and Boeing perform a two-parachute drop test ahead of Starliner's Crew Flight Test
Our Starliner team recently joined NASA's Commercial Crew Program to evaluate an upgraded parachute design for the spacecraft ahead of our Crew Flight Test.
The test proved Starliner can safely and softly land with just two parachutes if one parachute doesn’t deploy.
Engineers upgraded the parachute system to improve its soft links, reinforce its main parachute suspension, and strengthen its radial line.
Technicians recently installed the new system, comprised of three main chutes and two drogue chutes, on the spacecraft at Kennedy Space Center.
